20130614 Hospital de Orbigo, Spain

 Hospital de Orbigo, Spain

No, I'm not in the hospital, this really is the name of the town!

I was very satisfied (and relieved) with my decision to bus out of the concrete. This morning I did that. Before leaving Leon (which is awesome, btw), and while humming Eminem's Business, I took stock of my pack and yet again purged. I had to lighten my load (again).

I tossed:
Extra water bottle
3rd pair socks
Iodine
Alcohol wipes
Most of the Laundry soap
Cut a small piece off the bar of soap, left the rest
Extra shorts
Safety pins (hey, every little bit...)

I seriously considered tossing the sleeping bag, but the temperature has been too unpredictable.

I took the bus to 8km outside of Virgen del Camino (I think that was the name- I'll have to look it up later) and walked here. A nice short day, knee was fine, shin was fine, sunburn hurt like hell.

I feel good. I'm ready to go back to routine tomorrow. I'm aiming for Astorga, the last city for a few days, and if there's a bus through the concrete, I have every intention of hopping on!!!!!!

I should be at Cruz de Ferro day after tomorrow, if all goes well.

Btw, the stone bridge into Orbiga is the longest still-standing medieval bridge in (Spain?Europe? Not sure). Obviously there used to be a big raging river. And also obviously, I am relaxing with a glass of wine and admiring its beauty. Rural Spain is just breathtaking.

Love you!
